Atsuko Kudo receives ‘Special Award’ at the European Fetish Awards

Here at Atsuko Kudo we are very thrilled to have been voted the winner of the Special Award at this year’s European Fetish Awards held as part of the German Fetish Ball Weekend in Berlin.

AK was nominated for ‘opening doors for the whole latex industry with it’s amazing work in high fashion’. And those voting for the award were pretty much a who’s who of the European fetish scene including the editors of all the major magazines and latex websites/blogs. The other nominees in this category were all amazing companies or individuals.

The awards were announced on the night of the Ball by the fabulously named Rene de Parade, event director and hostess Kari Berg. The award was received on our behalf by Tony Mitchell editor of The Fetishistas.

This award is very exciting for everyone at Atsuko Kudo and we feel honored to have been recognised in this way by those shaping opinion in our industry.

Atsuko has always regarded latex as a very special fabric whilst at the same time wishing her designs to be seen and worn by as many people as possible.

If the work at AK has helped other latex designers by ‘opening doors’ for them then that is all to the good and we are very proud to help that process.

We hope that all designers follow their own instincts and try to break down other doors as latex is a fabric for all to enjoy and each designer should offer their own take on that.

As we have seen far too much recently there are many out there who wish to be described as designers but who are in fact simply acting as copyists. Some who are completely blatant and even steal other designers’ images and others who are marginally more subtle when they lift whole elements of a style created by another label and then simply attach their name to it.

Ultimately, creating latex clothing is not about awards but is about providing something life enhancing for each individual customer. This award is the icing on the cake in that process and we hope that it means that we are recognised for making clothes which make a difference to each person wearing them. And that the clothes we make are different to clothes that others make so that something new is being offered.
