Atsuko Kudo at the V&A’s ‘Ballgowns’ Exhibition

Atsuko Kudo printed latex gown for V&A’s ‘Ballgowns’ Exhibition

Atsuko Kudo was delighted to have been asked to participate in spring 2012's major fashion exhibition at London’s iconic V&A Museum. The exhibition was ‘Ballgowns - British Glamour Since 1950’, featuring the work of British based designers over the past 6 decades. This was the first exhibition in the museum’s newly refurbished fashion galleries.

The exhibition ran from May 2012 but we are also thrilled that the V&A asked us to provide a gown to represent the contemporary aspect of ballgowns for the press launch which happened in Octobr 2011 in the gorgeous Norfolk House Music Room.

We were also lucky to have one of our favourite models, Georgia Frost available to grace this specially created strapless lace print ball gown.

The same dress will also feature in the exhibition when it opens in May next year.

These sumptuous shots of Georgia wearing the Atsuko Kudo gown also show gowns from Worth (early 1950’s) and Hardy Amies (early 1960’s).

Other designers included in the exhibition included Alexander McQueen, Gareth Pugh, Giles, Hussein Chalayan, Julien MacDonald, Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney, Norman Hartnell, Erdem, Ossie Clark, Bill Gibb, Zandra Rhodes, Victor Stiebel, Jonathan Saunders and Catherine Walker.

‘Ballgowns - British Glamour Since 1950’ was curated by Oriole Cullen and Sonnet Stanfill.
